Scholarship Information

The Amherst Fire Council awards up to 4 annual academic scholarships.

Scholarship due date Dec 31st of each year

19th Annual Scholarship Award 2024

PURPOSE:

To inspire membership to our organization by offering financial assistance to our members, the extended membership, or a family member of a firefighter within our membership for higher education to a college or trade school of their choice.

AWARDS:

There will be a determined number of Scholarships Awards in the amount of $500.00 ea. An award recipient will receive only (one) of these awards. If there should be only one application for a scholarship award in any given year, only one will be awarded if the application is accepted and approved by the scholarship committee.

COMMITTEE:

The scholarship award review committee (5) will consist of the Amherst Fire Council President, 2 Board of Directors, and 2 Members in Good Standing.

ELIGIBILITY RECOMMENDATIONS:

• A current member of Amherst Fire Council or • A family member of an Amherst Fire Council Member or • An Active or Exempt member of a fire company whose membership is with Amherst Fire Council or • A family member of a firefighter belonging to a fire company whose membership is with Amherst Fire Council.

APPLICATION:

It is important to fill out the entire application as it fits to your personal situation with a minimum of a 1-page essay (required). The ESSAY is an important factor in the selection process, be sure to state your desires and need of this scholarship in your essay. ( see details on page 2)

TIMELINE:

All applications MUST be time stamped or postmarked by DEC. 31st, 2024, to be eligible. They may be given to ANY OFFICER at any meeting or mailed or e-mailed to the addresses below. The award will be presented to the recipients at the Memberships Regular Quarterly Meeting held in January2024. (Invitations to be present at the meeting will be given to the award recipients).
